Mayor Keller: Convention center possible location for medical services

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Mayor Tim Keller specifically talked about the city’s board and commissions and preparedness to use the Convention Center space as a hospital.

In Saturday’s 25-minute news conference, Keller talked about how they are looking at ways the Convention Center could be used if they need another facility. Latest Albequerque News Earlier this week, Gov. Lujan Grisham announced that the old Lovelace hospital site on Gibson will be used as a field hospital which should add more than 200 additional hospital beds.

Keller says the Convention Center would be a good area for medical services if the city needs another facility because it’s centrally located near three major hospitals.

Saturday’s conference also talked about how the city will continue to have the Boards and Commission meetings, however, Press Release Distribution Service they will be using online platforms. They are still working out the details, but public comment will also still be allowed.

He also mentioned that the city is planning on setting up a drive-up wireless program soon, but did not give an exact date on when they will be up and running. “We’re trying to find a way to use and leverage city resources including our Sun Van to provide internet in large parking lots,” said Keller
